I started writing when I was a teenager; short stories which progressed to poetry and eventually blog posts, articles, co-authored/edited a book, book 2 in the works, and now I am writing my own personal book!
It is a work in progress, but the idea struck me a week ago and I have already written almost six thousand words.
Writing has always been my go to thing when I am feeling creative, when I want to share information, when I need alone time….add some good music, a glass of red wine and wow! The wine is for night time writing obviously, otherwise in the early morning when everyone else in my house is sleeping it is a good cup of freshly brewed coffee!
I have a few different names for my book, but it will be about the various events that have occurred in my life and how it all led me to where I am right now. I just remarried, I am a parent of a tween and a teenager, I co-parent with the ex, I am working on book 2 in the Journey’s End series with my co-author and editor-Julie Saeger Nierenberg, I continue to work as a group facilitator and case manager with older adults 4 days a week, and I have a dream to begin my own business.
The business will be my writing, but also I want to take the books further and facilitate workshops, book clubs, small discussion groups on the topics of death and dying all while raising awareness of the topics most want to avoid at all costs which includes preparing for, discussing, and even thinking about!
My goal is to have my own personal book out by the end of 2018! The number 18 in Judaism (yes I am Jewish, I converted 19 years ago) is a lucky number and Chai-means “Life” and is one of the most recognizable symbols of Judaism. Comprised of the letters Chet and Yud, together they form the word “Chai” – a word that reflects the importance of life in Judaism.
2018 has been a very good year for me both personally and professionally. Even my phone extension which I got earlier this year at work ends in 1818!
Am I ambitious-yes! Am I overreaching-not sure, but am I willing to try? YES!
* A little update-October 8, 2018- over 6000 words written and I am thinking for the title:
The upbRINGing That Circles Me. Writing is a process. Write daily, but step back from it too.
